Jan 8, 2023 · Yep, it doesn’t have to be a new drive but it’s just for a bit more safety. You only need to back up the files that have the .d2s (Diablo 2 Save) and .d2i (Diablo 2 Item) file extensions, those are your character files and shared stash files respectively. It doesn’t hurt to copy the other files though.

Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop Application and go to the correct tab for the game you'd like to install. Hit the Install button. Under "Install Location," browse to the correct drive and folder you'd like to use for the installation. Click "Start Install". Repeat for each game.
Oct 4, 2023 · Launch File Explorer by pressing Windows key + E. Open the folder for a Steam game. The default path for a specific Steam game is: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\game name. Then right-click a game save file in the game’s folder to select Copy. Open a folder to back up the save game to.
Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Diablo II and doubleclick "Save Path". Change the value to your Google Drive folder (in my case C:\Users\Me\Google Drive\D2\Save\PlugY). Your characters will now always be synced into the cloud automatically. Do not play the same character at two machines at the same time.
